Serves: 3 cups

Ingredients:

5 apples of your choice

4 tablespoons of butter

1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Instructions:

Melt the butter in a large skillet

Leaving the skin on, cut the apples into bite size chunks.

On medium heat, sautee the apples and butter until the apples are golden on each side and there is a syrup in the pan.

Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg, stir the apples and set aside to cool.

Once cooled (not cold) put all of the apples and syrup from the pan into a blender and blend until smooth.

To Serve:

Homemade applesauce is great on its own but it can be a side dish to many meals or placed on the top of buttered toast as a special treat!

Homemade Applesauce As Baby Food:

Prepare the apples as above but remove the skin. Even though it is full of nutrients, Babies can get choked on the skin.

Sautee the apples as above.

In a separate saucepan, prepare 1/2 cup of oatmeal made with apple juice instead of water.

Combine the apples and the oatmeal before blending smoothly. The oatmeal makes the consistency of the applesauce thicker and easier to control on a spoon or in a pouch.

To Serve:

Babies love an applesauce treat straight off of the spoon but if you need them to eat some veggies they don’t care for, try combining the applesauce and the veggies to make a sweeter meal.

You can also add the applesauce to a pouch! This on-the-go quick pick-me-up is the perfect snack or meal for toddlers and babies.
